With the national boys' and girls' basketball championships scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Sacramento, CIF-State has canceled the first two days of the 2016-17 school year due to weather.
The Oxnard Union High School District said Friday that it will close schools for the first two days of the 2016-17 school year starting Monday, March 20, and will remain closed until at least next week. The Ventura Unified School District will close all sports events, including drills, through April 10. Ventura City Unified School District and its schools will also suspend all athletic games and drills on Friday, March 20 and close their schools for the first day of school beginning Monday. The Conejo School District, which includes Oak Park Elementary, Calexico High and Cottage Grove Elementary, will close all of its athletics events through Monday and will remain closed - at most for the rest of this year and for as long as possible next year.
