I'm a pretty laid-back sort of guy that likes to get out and try new things. Nothing excites me more than variety; I don't really have favorites because I like to go to new places, try new foods, learn new things. That doesn't mean I don't have fondness for things that are already in my life. I don't like to throw away what I have just for the excitement of something new. I have great affection for the people in my life and I want to drag them out and share all of these new experiences with them and then go to the same old coffee shop and talk about them. I guess I am a former creature of habit, trying to break those old habits and experience the rest of my life.

I like a spirited discussion and have frightened more than one neighboring table at a restaurant with a vigorous conversation about how to fix baseball or the intertwined history of funk and disco, or god forbid, politics...

I like things things indy: my music, my comics, my politics, my movies. I do succumb to the inexplicable and logic defying indy snobbery. You know the kind, where you really like something until it becomes popular and then you spend a week or 2 talking about how you were into it way back when it was cool and then proceed to dis it. I am torn between trying to overcome my indy snobbery and embracing it.

I'm a happy person. I know, they're hard to find these days. Hence why I'm on here. I am quick tongued and full of funny commentary but stick my foot in my mouth all the time. I'm super girly but won't spend more than 5 (okay 8 max) minutes on makeup and put off doing nails until they are an eyesore. I think the TV remote is somewhat symbolic of control in the relationship so I will happily watch the game with you, but when Desperate Housewives comes on that remote better be in my hands. I find myself to have three talents or paths to follow

1)I think sex and sexuality can be the most freeing and earnest of all actions, the only time I really feel like I have taken the shield of who I am supposed to be off and let someone see me and let myself share that person with another is through intimacy

2)videogames, puzzles and other things are one of my favorite distractions and challenges, I beat the rubrics cube at 7 -LONG summer don't ask- and JUST received a BA in video game development.

3) music is one of my favorite pastimes I find alot of music to be transcendent, able to move me deeply or to mimic other states of mind that I am not in and allow me to see myself from the outside. I feel that if I can't do anything in the world of games -or don't end up finding a guilt free way to do porn- that I should go into music because I think my love for it could easily allow me to at least learn some more instruments and pursue good music in the same way now I pursue good games -and sex-

I'm a librarian at a public library in the Chicago area. I'm generally a happy person, if a bit sarcastic. I don't read as much as I should, being a librarian, but there are just too few hours in my day to read all the books I want to read. I write short fiction and personal essays. Oh, and I'm currently married, but in the process of getting divorced from the husband.

I like road trips and exploring regional sights and foods; vacations to big cities across the country; the 1950s-60s design aesthetic, including, but not limited to: dishware, barware, clothing, fabric, paper products; and on and on.

I'm looking for someone to date and see if it leads to anything more. I am not looking for a hook-up, so if you just want someone to fuck, please move along, nothing to see here.

I'm just a country boy in this great big freaky city. Well, actually, I'm not, but hang tight, this is a work in progress, there's more to come. . . .

Two years ago I was thinking to myself how I would love to work in fitness. A few days later the fitness director came up and asked me if I would like to train to become an aerobics instructor. My life since then has totally changed. I am now working full time as a fitness coordinator. I still teach classes mostly for Seniors and Children. I am concerned about the growing percentage of obese children in the United States. I love that the company I work for is starting a campaign to educate families on how to lead healthier lives together. It feels great to know that I am able to make a difference in the world.

My interests lay somewhere between the arts and music and in the spaces in between the colors and the notes. For my job, I have to create and contemplate visual art with children and in my free time, I unwind by seeing music, poetry shows, comedy or other non-sports entertainment. I enjoy meeting different types of people and cultures and I like being exposed to new things. In the summer, you will find me bicycling, walking and visiting nature centers, working on some drawing or something or other. My friends mean the world to me, and are as important to me as my family.

I am an upbeat person. I draw great pleasure from interaction with people; friends or strangers. We all have something to share.

Someone showed how to open my eyes very wide and see the things that surround us and to savor them.

I am not looking for 100 women to respond to this missive, just the right one. My search is for the person to enjoy our common traits and acknowledge our differences as the cause to discover each other.
